"Hong Kong Flowers" Special Stamps

Although a small place in the world, Hong Kong boasts a wide variety of flora with over 3,100 known species, of which, about 2,100 are native. To provide a glimpse of this treasure, Hong Kong Post launched its "Hong Kong Flowers”special issue on 14 March 2008. This issuse presents six common local flowers, rendered with fine brushstrokes that stand out against a light simple background.

  3. Allamanda 黃蟬 ($2.40)

  4. Azalea 杜鵑 ($5.00)

    evergreen shrub


  5. Indian Lotus 荷花 ($3.00)
    Nymphaeaceae 睡蓮科
    Aquatic perennial herb


  6. Morning Glory 牽牛花 ($2.50)
    Convolvulaceae 旋花科
    Climber, perennial, blossom opens in morning, wilt in afternoon
